Latin Translation John Armitage esquire, High Sheriff of the County of York, to all people to whom these presents shall come, greetings. Whereas I have received a warrant to these parts annexed from his Majesty's Commissioners to enquire of lands, tenements and heriditaments, annuities, profits, goods and chattels, and stocks of money heretofore proven by sundry persons to divers charitable uses and now either withheld or misemployed which is to be enquired of by the said Commissioners at Rotherham the 27th of September instant, Now know you that I, the said John Armitage, have deputed assigned and authorised Nicholas Hurt, my Bailiff of the Liberty of Strafforth, my deputy to attend for me and in my name before the said Commissioners at the day and place aforesaid and then and there to do execute and perform all such service as either by the said warrant is by me to be done or required further by me by the said Commissioners. Ratifying and allowing whatever my said deputy shall do in the premise to be as lawful and effectual as if myself were there in my own person in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal of office dated the 8th day of September AD 1615
